There can be little doubt that the 22nd of October, 2010 was a very special day for Mercedes-Benz China. It was on this day that the biggest star emblem in the world was finally unveiled on the top of the Daimler Tower, rotating day and night with its unique brilliance, and already a firm fixture on the Beijing skyline. As one of the most visible and easily recognizable brand logos in the world, the star has sparkled for over a century, always shining its bright, warm light through the trials and tribulations of time and its changing tides. The sensation of safety and comfort which surround that bright, warm star is impossible to erase from the memory of all those people who have themselves been in the shining star.
The dream of building the star on top of the Daimler Tower was first conceived by Mercecedes-Benz China in 2007 and now, with the fast-approaching 125th anniversary of the brand, the dream has at last come true. A star emblem of 10 metres in diameter, at a total height of 107 metres was finally placed on top of the Daimler building. As a century-old brand itself, Mercedes-Benz, the star underwent a whole series of detailed tests, measuring risks to ensure its ultimate safety.
