



On the morning of Oct. 10th 2008, the press conference for the 2008 China Tennis Grand Prix "Mercedes-Benz Cup" was held at the indoor tennis court of the Nanjing Olympic Tennis Center, announcing the official launch of this year's last tennis match in China. After two years successful events held in Guangzhou, the venue of China Tennis Grand Prix Cup was moved Northward to launch in Nanjing, the former capital of six dynasties with a large population of tennis fans. To be held from Oct. 21st to Oct. 29th, the tournament will bring a feast of tennis to numerous fans. As the close partner of Chinese tennis profession, Mercedes-Benz (China) Ltd. joined in the event as the title sponsor.
Unlike previous events, this year's press conference was held in the indoor tennis court of the Nanjing Olympic Sports Center. In the spacious and sporty tennis court, the stage was furnished with splendid and exquisite details with easy and sporty background music. The whole conference venue looked like a cheerful tennis party. At the entrance there was a Mercedes-Benz R 350 filled with tennis balls. Under the background of these green wizards, the silver body looked cool, elegant and vivid, perfectly displaying the sporty character of the Mercedes-Benz brand, and many guests stood aside to take pictures.
Distinguished guests on the press conference included Ms. Sun Jinfang, Director of Management Center of Tennis Sports of the State General Administration of Sports, Ms. Wang Qiqi, representative of Mercedes-Benz (China) Ltd., Mr. Zhouxu, Deputy Director General of Jiangsu Provincial Administration of Sports, Mr.Tom McCarthy, CEO of the Beijing International Group, and Zeng Shaoxuan, Gong Maoxin and Ji Chunmei, three athletes of the national sports tennis team originating from Jiangsu Province, representatives of the sponsors and media reporters. Without previous tradition of solemnity, the press conference started with the sonorous and sporty performance of a drum dance.
