During the training event, Mercedes-Benz also provided the opportunity to watch China Open matches to give junior players a sense of the competition atmosphere, improve their competition experience and to prepare them to become top tennis players in the future. After one week of professional training, the coaching team will select one player from two participants from each region to form a group of three players. The group and the four professional junior players will then fly to the Eugene American Tennis College in Oregon to attend the one-month training and competition program.
With the participation of province-level Tennis Associations, the Mercedes-Benz 'Swing for the Star' Junior Tennis Development Project is a training project targeting at junior tennis players under 12 years old sponsored by Mercedes-Benz under the administration of the China Tennis Association. The project provides specific training program for 250 junior players and 100 grass-root coaches nationwide to improve their tennis skills, foster the future Chinese tennis competitive atmosphere, and to train future stars for Chinese tennis sports community.
