Mercedes-Benz Maintains Solid Growth in Mainland China With a 41% Year-to-date Increase

• Mercedes-Benz continued its sales momentum with deliveries of nearly 123,590 units in the first eight months of 2011 in Mainland China, an increase of 41%.

• The S-Class witnessed strong growth, with deliveries of more than 2,200 units in August, contributing to total sales of almost 20,825 units in the first eight months of the year, a year-on-year increase of 48%.

• The "Best in its class" E-Class posted a robust growth of 287% compared to the same month last year, meanwhile local production of the new generation C-Class is being ramped up.

• Sales of the SUV family continued to soar with a 153% year-on-year increase, led by a surge in sales for the M-Class. The GLK maintained its position as one of the best-selling SUVs, with year-to-date sales of over 16,210 units.

• The Sports Car Family continued its strong momentum of growth with a remarkable performance by the E-Coupé, selling nearly 3,500 units in the eight-month period, a year-on-year growth of 146%.

• smart maintained its impressive sales success with year-to-date deliveries of 7,175 units, a strong year-on-year increase of 292%, almost quadrupling sales over the same period last year.
