The two-seater roadster SLK also contributed to the sports car family with 1,930 units delivered to customers in 2010, growing by 56%. Mercedes-Benz's other sports cars like the CL-Class, SL-Class, E-Coupe, and E-Cabriolet also enjoyed consistent popularity in 2010.
China's warm reception of the young Mercedes-Benz family in 2010 also played an instrumental role in the growth throughout the year. The B-Class luxury sports tourer, a perfect blend of style and practicality, ended 2010 with total sales of over 11,810 units, an increase of 143% compared with the prior year. As one of the newest additions to the Mercedes-Benz portfolio, the A-Class has already been very well received by the market since its launch. Additionally, smart witnessed sales of almost 3,880 units in 2010, representing a 119% year-on-year growth. With six new models launched at the recent 2010 Guangzhou Auto Show, smart now provides customers with a wider range of choices.
In the past year, Mercedes-Benz's high performance brand AMG not only experienced great success from a sales increase of 111% selling nearly 1,380 cars, it also saw the introduction of the highly-acclaimed SLS AMG in China premiering at the Chengdu Auto Show in September. The inaugural Asian launch of the AMG Driving Academy in November was another highlight of the AMG brand, which signified the importance that it puts on the Chinese market.
