In April, the all-new E-Class witnessed its highest monthly sales ever with total deliveries of 3,790 vehicles in April, contributing to nearly 10,000 units sold in the first four months of the year. Looking forward, the recently world-premiered locally-produced Long-wheel-base E-Class, which is tailor-made for the Chinese market, will undoubtedly further reinforce the celebrated status as the "World's Best Business Sedan".
As one of Mercedes-Benz's consistent volume leaders, the locally-produced C-Class continued to enjoy another solid month, with a sales increase of 70% compare with the same period last year, which represent a growth of 83% year-on-year for the total sales of the first four months of the year. Further demonstrating its growing popularity among China's youth elites, the C-Class has continuously benefited from Beijing Benz Automotive Co.'s (BBAC) in-depth understanding of the needs and desires of China's young elites.
As always, Mercedes-Benz's entire SUV lineup also played a key role in the automaker's overall success, achieving a growth of 85% year-on-year in April and total deliveries of nearly 2,510 – representing nearly a quarter of the automaker's overall sales for the month. Meanwhile, setting the benchmark for medium luxury SUVs, the trendsetting GLK-Class sold almost 2,000 units to mark a sales increase of 50% for first four months of the year. Notably, the M-Class maintained its position as the leading contributor to the SUV family, with more than 2,900 units sold in the first four months for a year-on-year growth of 113%. Finally, the GL-Class and R-Class won the hearts of even more customers with double-digit sales growth in April, as China once again retained its title as the largest market for the R-Class in the world.
