Beijing, November 9, 2010 – After a record-shattering first three quarters, Mercedes-Benz continued its upward flight in China as it sold nearly 14,000 units of Mercedes-Benz, smart, AMG, and Maybach in October, representing a 119% increase from the same month last year. "Our record sales over 115,330 units and our high growth rate of 128% in the first 10 month of this year have showed our continuous high sales momentum month over month. This is a reflection of the appreciation of our customers for our dynamic and exclusive brand, our fascinating cars and the first class service of our dealers." said Klaus Maier, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz (China) Ltd. "With the launch of Mercedes-Benz A-Class model this month, the complete Mercedes-Benz car lineup will have been brought to China, which gives us even more confidence about Mercedes-Benz performance in the market."
As Mercedes-Benz's flagship model, the S-Class continued to stand at the pinnacle of the world's top luxury car segment. In October, it rose 87% for a delivery of over 2,020 cars, adding to a total sales figure of 18,485 units during the first ten months –solidifying China's position as the world's largest S-Class market.
The E-Class, touted as the "World's Best Business Sedan" continued to enjoy its position as Mercedes-Benz's volume leader in October with nearly 3,170 units sold. The Long Wheelbase E-Class, tailor-made specifically for the Chinese market, has gained a large customer base of Chinese business executives, government officials, and celebrities since its launch, all of whom contributed to the E-Class' sales 33,170 units over the first ten months.
