As the inventor of the automobile, with a rich history dating back to more than a century ago, Mercedes-Benz has always believed in maintaining a harmonious balance between man, automotive development and nature -- giving the company a "green competitive edge". In September 2007, Mercedes-Benz (China) Ltd. launched the Green Legacy Program, a long-term cooperation with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the Chinese government. Under the slogan of "Let Nature Take Its Course", the program demonstrates the automaker's commitment to protecting Natural Heritage sites in China, and also signifies Mercedes-Benz as the first auto brand to be involved in such a comprehensive CSR initiative. As a driving force engaged in the preservation of natural heritage sites, Mercedes-Benz holds the belief that the power of society as a whole leads to the greatest success. As time went on and further achievements were realized, the Green Legacy Program gradually became an open platform enabling corporations, employees, clients, media and the general public to efficiently work together in protecting World Heritage Sites, as well as promoting public awareness of related environment issues.
