In the first quarter of 2008, sales for Mercedes-Benz in Mainland China hits a record of 8,600 vehicles while the sales in China (including Hongkong and Maccu) reaches 9626 units, boasting an increase of over 40%.

In 1986, Mercedes-Benz (China) Ltd. was established in Hong Kong. With the growth of Mercedes-Benz's business in China, the Mercedes-Benz China head quarter was moved to Beijing in 2006.
