| July 14, 2008, Tianjin - For 150 lucky children, tennis is destined to bring them a colorful and memorable summer vacation this year. This is enabled by the Mercedes-Benz "Swing for the Stars" Tennis Summer Camp, which marks its commencement today. The summer camp is a crucial part of Mercedes-Benz "Swing for the Stars" Junior Tennis Development Program, which aims to develop and prepare skilled and well-trained players to brighten the future of tennis in China.
The five-day summer camp will grace three cities including Tianjin, Nanjing and Guangzhou, where the children of Mercedes-Benz clients nationwide within the age range of eight to twelve years old will be recruited to participate in the program. Although these children only have basic tennis skills; however, the most important key is that they all possess strong passion and enthusiasm for tennis and enjoy the sport as a hobby. As a world-leading auto brand, Mercedes-Benz places exceptional efforts to ensure customer satisfaction by providing them with superior service. It is through this type of events that Mercedes-Benz finds a channel to provide its customers with the opportunity to absorb and experience the brand's history and culture as well as its diversified brand equity. This summer camp is not only a means to provide professional training opportunities for the budding stars, but it also represents an outlet for Mercedes-Benz to show its care to the customers.
At the opening ceremony of the summer camp in Tianjin, all the young camp members was filled with joy as they anticipated the training that follows in the ensuing days. In this first-ever fully communal summer camp in China, these young amateurs will be treated like professional tennis players as they will receive instructions from an array of both Chinese national team coaches as well as international mentors. The program is well-organized to the highest degree to provide these future stars with an intensive, yet fun-filled schedule. At the conclusion of the program, two children from each regional camp will be selected to compete in the national training camp with other "Swing for the Stars" junior professional athletes. After a series of matches, the final three stars will then be elected for the opportunity to participate in a more intensive one-month training period and corresponding tournaments at the United States Tennis Academy (USTA). Therefore, aside from receiving basic tennis training, the camp will provide each member with an opportunity to enlarge their vision and enrich their life experiences.
The training environment will provide an exciting experience for the children as it will enrich them with the valuable opportunity to get acquainted and live with kids that they have never met before. This five-day communal living will provide a stepping stone for the children to build an independent life as they will gain the skills to take care of themselves, to build strong relationships and make progress together with one another - an experience they will never acquire through their daily lives. It is the teamwork and hardworking spirit as well as the positive nature of the camp that will inspire the children to be optimistic when facing future challenges.
The sweat and hard work put into the trainings will reap precious benefits that these young players will cherish for their whole life. These players will leave the camp with a very important accomplishment - a strengthened mind and body. As a consolation, these children will also be proud to say, "I have just had the most exciting and unforgettable summer vacation!" |
