Mercedes-Benz outshines

with TrueBlueSolutions at Geneva Motor Show

As a leader on the global luxurious car market, Mercedes-Benz presented at the just-opened 78th International Motor Show in Geneva near 30 models of the brand, ranging from sedans, to sports cars, and also the concept car of its first compact SUV with BlueTEC HYBRID technology. The brand's stand not only displayed the auto maker's unrivaled leading technologies but also demonstrated the century-old car giant's unremitting efforts and outstanding achievements in environmental protection and energy saving, mapping out its "TrueBlueSolutions" for the development of luxurious cars while displaying its industry leader status quo.

At the press conference of the three-pointed star, a marvelous show is brought by Mercedes-Benz to the on-site visitors: the Acrobatic Ballet "Swan Lake", performed by top-level Chinese artists. The combination of Chinese traditional acrobatics and Western ballet is not only an art feast, but also a reflection of Mercedes brand's motto of everlasting innovation.

"We are showing very clearly what Mercedes-Benz stands for in Geneva: a wide range of attractive premium cars which combine outstanding safety, comfort and refinement with efficiency and environmental compatibility", says Dr. Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of Daimler AG and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Cars.

Mercedes-Benz sports car family is presenting further attractive new products in Geneva, including CLC-, SLK-, CLS-, SL-, and CL-Class. Power yet fuel efficiency present their core characters as all new roadsters and coupes consume up to ten percent less fuel than predecessors. Specially, the new all-wheel-drive luxurious coupe
CL 500 4MATIC consumes 12.1-liter fuel per 100km, despite its large displacement.

Powerful, economical and clean - these are the major attributes of the concept car of Mercedes-Benz's first compact SUV staged at Gevena this time. Its cutting-edge technology of BlueTEC HYBRID is presented to be an innovative diesel-hybrid drive goes one step further in terms of power and efficiency.

In addition, Mercedes-Benz is presenting an essential innovation in the field of battery technology for hybrid vehicles in Geneva. As a world first, the Stuttgart company has succeeded in developing the lithium-ion technology so far used mainly in the consumer electronics sector to a stage where the high demands of the automotive industry are met. The new battery technology will first enter series production in the S 400 BlueHYBRID in the coming year. All in all, Daimler holds 25 patents which have made a breakthrough in this important technology possible.

"We have put together a whole package of fuel economy measures, which we will be offering in numerous models", says Dr Thomas Weber, the member of the Daimler AG Board of Management responsible for corporate research and for development at Mercedes-Benz Cars. "This package, including aerodynamic fine-tuning, our new electric ECO steering system, intelligent lightweight construction, tyres with a low rolling resistance etc., achieves overall fuel savings of up to twelve percent."
