 | As announced recently, Mercedes-Benz (China) Ltd. has been recruiting domestic participants for the last Chinese leg of E-Class Experience Paris-Beijing drive. The qualified recruited participants will join in the 5th leg, also the last leg from Lanzhou to Beijing to witness the victorious ending of the great cross-continental journey. The deadline of recruitment will be Oct. 7th 2006. Visitors can log on to SINA.COM (www.sina.com.cn) for more relevant information and make online application. "The E-Class Experience Paris-Beijing"drive is planned to start from Paris on Oct.21th 2006, and 33 Mercedes-Benz E-Class cars will head for Beijing in 26 driving days, crossing the borders of eight countries, covering 450,000 kilometers in total. It equals more than eleven times of the circumference of the equator. It will be the first time that mass-produced luxury cars have undertaken such a long and treacherous journey, and will be a great challenge for both the cars and the drivers alike. Before coming to the tour's final destination, the drivers of the last leg will have more than 1,900 kilometers in front of them. First, the route follows the valley of the Yellow River, then moves on to Wuhai town, and crosses the offshoots of the Gobi desert and the grass pastures of Inner Mongolia. In this leg, the abominable conditions will not only challenge the performance of the Mercedes-Benz cars, but also the skill and concentration of the drivers. The route continues via the steel-producing town of Baotou, heading further east to the capital of Hohhot. Approximately 140 kilometers beyond Hohhot, the route will rejoin the trail of the historic car race of 1907 in Jining. This is where the eleven participants travelling in the opposite direction after departing from Peking, crossed the nearly impassable Gobi desert in the blistering heat 99 years ago. In 2006 however, the Mercedes-Benz fleet will navigate this historic route to ultimately reach its Beijing terminus. On November 16, the Great Wall of China will sensationally reappear in Badaling, and the fleet will arrive at their final stop – Yongdingmen on the following day. According to the activity and arrangement, and considering driving skills required to complete for this challenging tour, participants should fit for such requirements as: between 23 and 45 years of age, good health status, holding a legal driving license, over three years of driving experiences especially with long distance driving, etc. For further relevant information, please visit SINA.COM (www.sina.com.cn). |
