The Mercedes Car Group showcased a magnificent lineup of 20 vehicles, including the world premier of the Maybach 62S, the Asia debut of the Mercedes-Benz GL and the S 300L, specifically designed for the Chinese market. The S-Class fleet on display includes the S 300L, S 600L and S 500L, which demonstrate the advanced technology and extraordinary glamour of the Mercedes-Benz brand's core values. In addition, four new AMG models made their debut at the event, showcasing dynamic design, attention to detail, and intense sporting passion. Meanwhile, a fleet of new generation E-Class vehicles arrived in Beijing from Paris after 25 days and 490,000 kilometers of travel across Eurasia. Daimler' s joint venture, Beijing Benz-Daimler, will soon begin producing the new generation E-Class at its facility in Beijing. The new generation of E-Class not only represents the high end of contemporary auto technology, but also embodies the Mercedes-Benz spirit of innovation and excellence. The world' s first automobile, the Benz Patent Motorwagen, born in 1886, was also on display, and together with the other impressive models, conveyed to the world the 120 years of pioneering spirit for which Mercedes-Benz is renowned. "We now consider Auto China as one of the top international auto shows in the world, and are proud to display the long and rich heritage of Mercedes-Benz, as well as the latest in automotive technology and innovation to consumers in China." said Dr. Claus Weidner, General Manager of Sales and Marketing, Mercedes-Benz (China) Ltd. "This year the Maybach 62S makes its worldwide debut, and the Mercedes-Benz GL makes its Asia debut. These vehicles are displayed along with a new Mercedes-Benz S 300, which was developed specifically for the Chinese market, in addition to the full product lineup. " The superstar of the exhibition is the muscular GL-Class off-roader SUV, the first of the featured models to be launched in Asia. The 7-seater SUV is fitted with an ultra-modern V8 engine and the all-new 4MATIC permanent four-wheel drive technology, and boasts an interior that is as luxurious as it is spacious. It promises exceptional performance and comfort in all conditions, on and off-road. As a specially tailored model for China market, the new S 300L is equipped as standard with multiple innovative technologies including COMAND, second generation of PRE-SAFE, panoramic sunroof, and 7G-TRONIC, the 7-speed automatic gear box, which set a new benchmark for production vehicles. With the S 300L joining the ranks of the S 600L, S 500L and S 350L, the flagship luxury fleet is poised to meet the many diverse needs of the Chinese luxury car market. The S-Class is equipped with the most leading-edge all-dimension occupant protection system: PRO-SAFE, which provides passengers with 4 phases of protection including PERFORM-SAFE, PRE-SAFE®, PASSIVE-SAFE and POST-SAFE.

Equipped with a range of safety innovations including PRE-SAFE®, Intelligent Light System, NECK-PRO head restraints and adaptive brake lights, the new E-Class is regarded as the safest car in its class. The four new AMG models -- the S 65AMG、the E 63AMG、the G 55 AMG and the ML 63AMG – are all built in the concept of " one man one engine" and the commitment to supreme driving fun. These high-performance vehicles demonstrate the peak of engineering with their outstanding performance, breathtaking appearance and unmatched safety standards. A broad product portfolio and a nation-wide network of 71 authorized sales and service centers and outlets give Mercedes-Benz a strong foothold in China's luxury car market. Through October 2006, Mercedes-Benz's China sales (inclusive of Hong Kong and Macau) totaled 17971 units, with the mainland reporting a 49% increase year-on-year. Its flagship series, the S Class, in particular, notched up a strong showing, guaranteeing it the leading position in its target market segment. As an essential part of its global strategy, Mercedes-Benz spares no effort in communicating automobile culture and assuming social responsibility in addition to the great attention it pays to the importing of new products and the building of a vast and comprehensive sales network. Examples are the classic-car show tour, staged to narrate automobile history and the sponsorship of top-class sporting events such as F1 and the ATP tour, and Auto Safety Education Project. "Our products are the basis of all of our customer relationships. Helping our customers recognize our brand culture and realize the cultivation of brand loyalty is a vital step in our long-term development in China." stated Dr. Claus Weidner. |
