During the journey, the vehicle helps the driver to identify critical situations promptly and handle them safely. In the second phase, just before a potential accident, numerous preventive measures can be activated to reduce the risk of injury. In the event of an accident, the occupants can benefit from effective, individualised protection provided by the comprehensive range of passive safety systems. Finally, the fourth component comprises the phase after an accident when further measures come into play such as automatically releasing the belt buckle to make the task of the rescue services easier or to reduce the risk of new accidents by activating the hazard warning flashers.
