Official Website

Built on an island in the St Lawrence seaway, the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve has hosted the Canadian Grand Prix since 1977.

The first race was held in October 1978. Gilles Villeneuve, in his first season with Ferrari, was yet to win a Formula One race, but at his home Grand Prix he took a memorable debut victory. Following his tragic death in 1982, the track was renamed in his honour.
